The National University of Science and Technology (NUST), COMSATS, and National University of Technology (NUTECH) get 80% of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s development funding, according to the Secretary of Science and Technology.
He said while briefing the senate standing committee on Science and technology under the chairmanship of Senator Shafiq Tarin.
The committee was informed by the secretary of the ministry of science that NUST projects receive 50% of the ministry’s development budget, while NUTECH and COMSATS programs receive 30% each.
Other institutions got a lesser share due to poor project planning.
NUTECH officials told the committee that the university was able to develop a ventilator on a self-sufficient basis. This also includes world-class medical and industrial products as well, including a 3-D printer and a peritoneal dialysis machine.
