The Orange Line Bus project Name is in honor of “Abdul Sitar Edhi” and is now operational in Karachi. It was inaugurated on September 10, 2022, by “Sindh Information and Transport Minister” Sharjeel Memon. From the official news, busses started commercial operation on Monday, September 12, 2022. This project was part of the grand-scale mass transport.

History

The Orange Line project was started in 2016 by the Sindh Govt. initially, it was announced that it would be completed within a couple of years. But for several reasons, its progress went too slow and resulted in a delay of several years.

For transport, the management of the project consulted with the Company regarding the design and infrastructure of the vehicle to provide a comfortable ride to the passengers. The single bus comes with 31 seats, and more than 64 passengers can get a ticket for it to travel.

But now it is the good news that it has been inaugurated officially and become operational and is now serving the Karachi citizens.

It has a total length of 3.9 Kilometers and is the shortest “Bus Rapid Transit” project in Pakistan. During its inauguration, it was said that 20 buses would operate in this line with 40 drivers. But now, from the news, it comes to that it contains a total of 18 busses, and their purpose is to serve around 50,000 passengers daily.

The orange line is merged with the Gree line at the AO chowk, but the Green line is still under construction and is a mega metro project in Pakistan.

The orange line route has a total of four stations named “TMA office route,” “Orangi Town route,” “Board office route,” and “North Nazimabad.” Each station is constructed at a distance of 1 Km from one another. So, it only takes 1 to 2 minutes to reach it from one stop to another. The total time taken by this route is around only 4 to 5 minutes, along with stop time.

The orange line starting point is AO chowk, located in the Nazimabad region. The first stop from the starting point is Nishan e Haider chowk, situated in the Orangi town of Karachi.
