As the holy month of Ramadan continues, more than 2 million Muslims gathered in Saudi Arabia to pray at the Masjid Al Haram to celebrate Shab-e-Qadr, also known as the Night of Power.
As Shab-e-Qadr is thought to be the night Prophet Muhammad PBUH received the first verses of the Holy Quran, Muslims gathered at the holiest site in Islam.
In addition to Taraweeh and Qiyamullah, worshippers additionally offer the Isha prayer. The roads leading to Masjid Al Haram were said to be crowded with the devout because of the massive influx of pilgrims who came to Saudi Arabia for the last 10 days of the blessed month.
According to reports, over 100 gates including three for Umrah performers, 68 for worshippers, 50 for emergencies, and 40 internal gates were successfully used by believers and Umrah travellers.
The Grand Mosque’s hallways and courtyards are being kept clean round-the-clock by employees, who have deployed around 4,000 personnel to the Masjid Al Haram and its surroundings.
Escalators were installed to assist the elderly and others with disabilities, and special trucks were provided for those who require reliable mobility.
