Pakistan Railways saw a noticeable increase in passenger numbers for the 2023-24 period, with 41.91 million people choosing to travel by train—a rise of 6.51 million compared to the previous year. This growth also reflected in revenue, as passenger earnings reached Rs. 47.712 billion, which not only surpassed the target by Rs. 8.712 billion but also represented an increase of Rs. 13.799 billion from 2022-23.
Aside from passenger revenue, Pakistan Railways generated an additional Rs. 39.803 billion through freight services, military transport, and property rentals in 2023-24. The organization remains hopeful about continuing this growth in passenger numbers, introducing new facilities like dining cars, mobile charging stations, water dispensers, and Ticket Vending Machines for greater comfort and convenience.
To improve the travel experience further, Pakistan Railways is focusing on enhancing punctuality by investing in track maintenance, upgrading signaling systems, and adding new train coaches. Additionally, a call center has been established under the Railway Automated Booking and Travelling Assistance (RABTA) system, dedicated to managing passenger complaints and providing support.
These efforts underline Pakistan Railways’ commitment to offering better service and meeting the increasing demands of passengers. With these upgrades, the organization aims to build a more reliable and comfortable experience for travelers while also boosting overall satisfaction.
