A total of 55.7 million registrations were registered, compared to 53.1 million in 2018-19, an increase of 4.9%.
It is estimated that it will rise to 58.5 million in 2020-21. Similarly, in 2019 there were 1.83 million teachers20 compared to 1.79 million last year.
It is also estimated that the number of teachers will increase to 1.89 million in 2020-21.
According to the Labor Force Survey 2020-21, the literacy rate in 2020-21 was 62.8% (compared to 62.4% in 2018-19) and was higher among men (from 73.0% to 73.4%) than women (from 51.5% to 51.9%).
Analysis by area indicates an increase in literacy in rural areas (53.7% to 54.0%) and urban (76.1% to 77.3%). The differences between men and women appear to be narrowing over time.
