In 2023, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) released a report indicating that more than 8 million individuals from Pakistan traveled abroad during that year.
The FIA, responsible for managing airport operations, oversaw a total of 19.5 million travelers passing through international airports across the country.
Among these travelers, 7.1 million were Pakistani citizens arriving back home, 8.1 million were Pakistanis departing to foreign destinations, 2.1 million were foreigners arriving in Pakistan, and 2.2 million were foreigners departing from Pakistan.
Specifically, Lahore Airport served as a departure point for 3.6 million Pakistani travelers heading overseas, while Islamabad Airport facilitated the departure of 3.5 million passengers during the same period.
These figures highlight the significant volume of air travel from Pakistan and underscore the importance of airport management and oversight by agencies such as the FIA.
