Overseas Workers are Backbone of Our Economy, Prime Minister

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on International Migrants Day, praised more than 12 million overseas Pakistanis and called them one of the country’s biggest strengths.

He said they act as Pakistan’s cultural representatives across the world and play an important role in building connections between Pakistan and other countries.

The Prime Minister shared that overseas Pakistanis send over $38 billion back home every year. This money supports Pakistan’s economy and helps millions of families manage their daily lives.

However, he also said that the true value of overseas Pakistanis lies in their skills, hard work, and strong determination to succeed wherever they go.

PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that the government is working to prepare Pakistanis for the global job market by giving them technical training, social skills, and language education.

He said that training programs are being improved to match international standards and focus on a wide range of modern skills.

While honoring International Migrants Day, the Prime Minister said Pakistan joins the world in acknowledging the efforts, sacrifices, and achievements of Pakistanis working abroad.

He added that this year’s theme, “My Great Story: Cultures and Development,” highlights how migration brings progress, connects cultures, and supports economic growth.

He mentioned that migration encourages innovation, strengthens multicultural societies, and supports development based on dignity, cooperation, and equal rights.

The PM also said Pakistan is working through international partnerships, such as the European Union Talent Partnership, to protect the rights of overseas Pakistanis and gain recognition for their abilities.

He highlighted ongoing work on the National Emigration and Welfare Policy and the National Reintegration Policy to ensure safe and respectful travel for Pakistanis going abroad.

The Prime Minister said the government remains committed to offering better opportunities, skills, and protection to all migrant workers, so they can continue contributing to Pakistan’s progress.
