Pakistan Aims to Export 125,000 Tons of Mangoes Worth $100 Million This Season

Pakistan is planning to export 125,000 tons of mangoes during the 2025 season, which begins on May 25. This is 25,000 tons more than last year, and the country hopes to earn about $100 million from these exports. The target was shared by the Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association (PFVA).

However, there are several hurdles that may affect this goal. The PFVA has warned that climate change, water shortages, and the rising cost of shipping could cause serious problems. Because of these issues, mango production could drop by up to 20%. Pakistan usually grows about 1.8 million tons of mangoes every year, but this year, the total production might fall to just 1.4 million tons.

To reduce the impact of these challenges, exporters are looking to sell mangoes in new countries. Pakistan is focusing on expanding its mango exports to markets like the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Turkey, and China. Talks are also ongoing to begin exports to South Africa, depending on the results of quarantine checks and inspections.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Pakistan’s mango exporters are hopeful. By targeting more international markets and taking steps to improve production and quality, they aim to make the most of this year’s mango season.

Mangoes are one of Pakistan’s most loved fruits and an important part of its export economy. The success of this export season will depend on how well the country can handle climate-related risks and rising costs.
