Pakistan Among World’s First 3 Countries to Adopt Crypto, Bilal Bin Saqib

Pakistan is now among the top three countries in the world when it comes to cryptocurrency adoption, according to Bilal Bin Saqib, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Blockchain and Crypto.

While speaking at a briefing in Islamabad, Saqib said that an estimated 30 to 40 million Pakistanis are actively using cryptocurrencies in some form. He explained that because such a large number of people are already involved, proper regulation has become necessary to protect users, improve transparency, and bring the sector into the formal financial system.

He shared that the government has introduced a clear and transparent regulatory framework for digital assets that meets international standards. According to Saqib, this move reflects serious institutional reform and shows that Pakistan is committed to modernizing its financial system rather than ignoring the rapid growth of digital technologies.

Saqib also pointed out that the global financial landscape is changing quickly. He noted that the worldwide bond market, worth nearly 100 trillion dollars, is gradually shifting toward digital and blockchain-based systems. Pakistan, he said, does not want to be left behind in this transformation.

He added that the decision to grant no-objection certificates to international crypto platforms such as Binance and HTX is part of a careful, step-by-step approach. This strategy aims to integrate modern financial technologies while maintaining national oversight and protecting economic interests.

Overall, Saqib emphasized that Pakistan’s growing involvement in digital assets is not just about technology, but about building a secure, regulated, and future-ready digital economy.
