Pakistan and Denmark planning to work together on green energy projects

Pakistan and Denmark will collaborate on a number of energy-related projects, and the two nations have formed a joint technical working group to develop terms of reference (ToRs) for government-to-government (G2G) energy agreements.

Danish Ambassador to Pakistan Lis Rosenholm and Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan co-chaired a virtual meeting to form the technical committee.

The Danish delegation presented a report and updated the attendees on measures to improve collaboration in Pakistan’s renewable energy industry during the conference.

Minister Omar Ayub acknowledged Denmark’s leadership role in clean and green energy on a global scale but added that Pakistan was also harnessing its vast renewable energy potential.

The conclusions of the Danish team’s study were addressed, and both countries pondered on them in light of the latter have recently passed alternative energy strategy.

He also emphasized the need of working together on initiatives like wind turbine and solar panel production, energy waste reduction, and system transmission capacity enhancement.

“The government has set ambitious targets to increase the amount of renewable energy in the energy mix to 25% by 2025 and to 30% by the end of 2030,” Khan stated, “including a 45 percent share of hydel power generation and 10 percent of nuclear energy in the energy mix.”
