The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) report for 2020 has put Pakistan on the list of countries with a score of 75 percent for aviation safety targets.
The research states that more than 75 percent of safety criteria have been implemented by 46 nations, including Pakistan. The research also revealed a 16% increase in aircraft accidents compared to the previous year in 2019.
In one million flights, the proportion of accidents amounted to 2.9 percent. In the report, the safety standards are evaluated on the basis of air traffic norms, crew training, aircraft licencing, accident testing and navigation.
The PIA passed the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) in July this year for rebooting flights to the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union.
The national flag carrier, however, expects the ICAO to perform an audit of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
