During the export season of 2020-21, Pakistan set a new record by exporting 460000 metric tons of Kinnow, the highest export volume in the country’s history, said Waheed Ahmad, Patron-in-Chief All Pakistan Exporters, Importers & Merchants Association (PFVA) on Friday.
Waheed Ahmad said in a press release that during the global pandemic COVID-19, the demand for kinnow increased dramatically because it played a critical role in improving the human immune system and protecting against the deadly disease.
Pakistan exported 460000 tons of Kinnow to forty countries around the world, up 30% from the previous year’s export value of 353000 tons. Waheed continued, “Pakistan received valuable foreign exchange of USD 253 million through the export of kinnow.”
Both Pakistan Exporters, Importers, and Merchants Association (PFVA) Patron-in-Chief Abdul Razzak Dawood attributed this achievement to timely decisions by the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and, in particular, comprehensive assistance by Advisor to the Prime Minister Abdul Razzak Dawood.
