Pakistan, China to Set up Joint Pest Management Lab

The Institute of Plant Protection, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science, and the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) have signed a LoI in Beijing for establishing the Pakistan-China joint laboratory for crop pest management.

Operations of the joint laboratory with collaboration from both countries will start soon. Demonstrations and joint research on integrated disease control technologies for crop pests and most common diseases, and other tests will be carried out.

Personnel exchange and training will also be provided at the laboratory. Pakistan’s agriculture sector holds a significant position in the economy of the country however, crop pests are undermining Pakistan’s exports.

Enhanced research and collaboration with this initiative will help food security and export competitiveness.
