Pakistan Coach Refuses to Change Babar, Rizwan Opening Pair, says it’s ‘Risky’

Batting coach of Pakistan, Mohammed Yousuf has refused to change the national side’s opening pair, skipper Babar Azam and wicket-keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan — ahead of the T20 World Cup.

After New Zealand defeated Pakistan Batting coach while speaking to media stated, “For the last two years, the pair have been playing at the top. No talk has taken place about it, and with the World Cup ahead, there shouldn’t be any change.”

Furthermore he said, “It’s risky to take such a chance. Rizwan was the Player of the Match in the first match, after which Babar won the award.”

More than 2,000 runs has been scored by Rizwan and Babar during paired partnership since they started opening the batting order together.

Even after the opening pair being on top order, the Pakistan’s middle order is still under criticism as they lost a home series against English team.

Yousuf added further, “The management thinks that the way the two are playing, changes shouldn’t be made, especially with the World Cup ahead.”
