The Indian visas for members of the Pakistan and Afghanistan cricket teams, who are participating in the ODI World Cup, have been issued, as confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The Pakistan players and their support staff will receive their visas for the tournament on the following day, according to India Today. This development comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressed serious concerns to the ICC about the delay in the national team’s travel to Hyderabad.
The issuance of visas occurred less than 48 hours before Pakistan’s scheduled departure to India on September 27, with their first warm-up game against New Zealand scheduled for September 29 in Hyderabad. While the ICC spokesperson stated that visas have been issued to Pakistan, there was still some confusion within the Pakistan camp regarding the status of their visas.
The PCB had written to ICC CEO Geoff Allardice on Monday, highlighting the visa delay and emphasizing how it had negatively impacted the team’s preparation for the 50-over World Cup.
