During FY23, Pakistan’s rice sector faced challenges like floods and competition from India. However, it showed resilience by exporting 3.717 million tonnes of rice, earning $2.149 billion.1
Basmati varieties contributed $650.4 million, and non-basmati varieties contributed $1.498 billion. The total exports decreased compared to the previous year due to lower production. The country harvested about 6 million tonnes of rice, which was a 34% decrease from the previous year’s output of 9.1 million tonnes.
