Pakistan GDP Growth to Drop Below 2.5% in 2022-23: Finance Ministry

Gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to be revised by Federal Government as target owning to havoc floods in the country.

According to the sources, GDO growth would remain 2.3% during the fiscal year 2022-23. In a recent report IMF has forecasted 3.5pv GDP.

According to the sources, flood had badly impacted the agricultural domain in Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The growth in agricultural sector is likely to slow down by 0.7pc from the planned 3.9pc target during the cure fiscal.

However, the growth in the industrial domain is also expected to decelerate by 1.9pc from 5.9pc planned target.

Whereas, the post flood growth of it is likely to be 3.5pc from.the planned target of 5.1pc during FY23.

According to the sources confirmation, 37pc of the country’s population has been affected by the havoc flood recently. Which resulted to an increase in poverty and unemployment.

It pushed the poverty from 21pc to 36pc whereas the inflation rate reached to 30pc during FY23.
