Pakistan Government Allocated a Budget of Rs. 47.4 Billion for General Elections

The upcoming general election in Pakistan, slated for February 8, 2024, has prompted the Caretaker Government to allocate a significant budget of Rs 47.4 billion. This financial allocation underscores the commitment to ensuring a smooth and secure electoral process.

Within this budget, a considerable portion of Rs 15 billion is dedicated to election security, highlighting the paramount importance of maintaining a secure environment during the electoral proceedings. The meticulous task of printing ballot papers, a crucial component of the election process, is allocated Rs 4.83 billion to ensure an ample and flawless supply of voting materials.

The compilation and maintenance of accurate voter lists, another vital aspect of the electoral framework, are supported with Rs 270 million. This allocation aims to facilitate a precise and up-to-date record of eligible voters.

Recognizing the significance of training for individuals involved in the election process, the budget designates Rs 1.89 billion for the training wing. This financial support is geared towards enhancing the capabilities and efficiency of those engaged in various aspects of electoral responsibilities.

Media coordination, an integral part of ensuring transparency and communication during the election period, will receive a financial boost of Rs 500 million. This allocation emphasizes the importance of effective communication and information dissemination.

Administrative expenses are set at Rs 20.4 million, ensuring the smooth functioning of the administrative aspects associated with the electoral process. Additionally, Rs 5.6 billion is allocated for project management units and voting, indicating a comprehensive approach to managing and overseeing the entire election process.

Moreover, a separate allocation of Rs 1 billion is set aside for honorees, recognizing the contributions and efforts of individuals involved in the electoral process. The budget further takes into account the diverse needs of each province, with specific amounts allocated as follows: Rs 9.65 billion for Punjab, Rs 3.65 billion for Sindh, Rs 3.95 billion for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Rs 1.11 billion for Balochistan.
