Pakistan Hockey Team Gets Heroic Welcome in Lahore after Winning Silver Medal in Azlan Shah Cup

The Pakistan hockey team received a warm welcome when they returned to Lahore on Sunday. They were celebrated as heroes after winning the silver medal at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. Despite their brave efforts, they narrowly lost in the final to Japan after a tough penalty shootout.

The team had a great run in the tournament, staying undefeated until the final match. However, Japan made a strong comeback after Pakistan took an early lead. Even though Pakistan didn’t win, they were praised for their hard work and determination.

At Lahore airport, a big crowd greeted the team with garlands and bouquets to show their appreciation. Fans held up signs and banners to celebrate the team’s performance.

Several important people were there to welcome the team, including Chairman of the Prime Minister Youth Program, Rana Mashhood, former Pakistan head coach Khawaja Junaid, and former Olympian Akhtar Rasool, among others.

Mashhood praised the team for inspiring young people in Pakistan to take up hockey again. He announced a reward of Rs1 million for each player from the Prime Minister and said that the team would be honored at the Prime Minister’s House.

“The government of Pakistan supports them for future events,” Mashhood said. “The Prime Minister has invited them to the PM House to thank them for their hard work and dedication.”
