On the occasion of Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day, Pakistani and Indian military shared sweets at the Wagah Border as a sign of friendship and harmony.
Despite ongoing hostilities, border guards from Pakistan and India continue to engage in this friendly custom around national and religious holidays.
According to sources, the sweetness permeated beyond the Wagah Border, with comparable exchanges occurring at a number of other border posts.
Officials from India’s Border Security Force (BSF) and the Punjab Rangers made the gesture of goodwill.It is customary for Indian and Pakistani soldiers to trade sweets on holidays and other occasions each year.
