SAFA, which is the European Air Safety Watchdog, has recently given Pakistan’s national flag carrier the highest-ever safety rating.
SAFA, also known as Safety Assessment for Foreign-Origin Aircraft, conducts surprise and periodic inspections of all non-European airlines at various airports throughout the world. SAFA inspectors conducted intensive audit checks at major international airports, as PIA has been under constant investigation since the pilots’ licence controversy broke.
PIA averaged 0.5 throughout the most of 2021, thanks to a significant focus on improvement. PIA is now listed among the best airlines in the world with the safest operating records, with a safety index of zero.
With no discrepancies discovered in the recent two weeks, SAFA reduced PIA’s safety danger index to zero, which is the lowest possible hazard score.
