Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s goal to boost trade with Iran, increasing it from the current $3 billion to $10 billion. Speaking in an interview with Iran’s state news agency IRNA ahead of his visit, he shared his hope for stronger economic ties between the two neighboring countries.
He said that both sides have great opportunities to work together, especially if they sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). This deal could help both countries grow their economies and make trade easier and smoother.
PM Shehbaz also pointed out the importance of the Pakistan-Iran border, calling it a valuable route for trade and development. He said Pakistan is working to make this area more peaceful and stable, which will help both nations benefit.
During the interview, he also thanked Iran for standing by Pakistan during its recent tensions with India. He appreciated Iran’s diplomatic support during difficult times and said Pakistan remains committed to solving regional issues through peaceful means.
He again spoke about Pakistan’s firm position on the Kashmir issue, calling for a peaceful and fair solution. He also expressed concern for the people of Palestine and said Pakistan supports peace in the region.
