Pakistan Launches PM Laptop Loan Scheme 2025 for Students: Here’s the Details

The Government of Pakistan has introduced a new program called the Prime Minister Laptop Loan Scheme 2025, designed to make laptops more affordable for young people across the country.

With the cost of technology rising, many students and freelancers struggle to buy a device that supports their studies or online work. This scheme aims to solve that problem by offering laptops on interest-free installments, so individuals can pay gradually without financial pressure.

How the Scheme Works

Under the initiative, applicants can apply for loans that cover the cost of laptops in three different categories. The amount ranges from PKR 150,000 to PKR 450,000, depending on the type of device a person wants to purchase. The repayment plans are spread over several years to ensure small, manageable monthly installments.

Who Can Apply

The scheme is open to Pakistani citizens between 18 and 35 years old. Eligible groups include university students, freelancers, and young professionals. Officials have clarified that people from low-income families will be given preference. However, government employees cannot apply for this program.

Documents Needed

Applicants must upload a few documents online when submitting their applications. These include:

  • National Identity Card (scanned copy)
  • Recent photograph
  • Proof of income (or guardian’s income)
  • Educational proof such as certificates or university admission details
  • Freelancers may share links to their profiles on platforms like Upwork or Fiverr

The entire process has been made online through the PM Youth Program portal, ensuring transparency and accessibility across Pakistan.

Authorities say this project is more than just providing laptops it is about empowering Pakistan’s youth to succeed in the digital age. By making technology more accessible, the government hopes to strengthen digital literacy, promote freelancing, and encourage innovation in e-commerce and online education.

The PM Laptop Loan Scheme 2025 is being described as a step toward building a stronger digital economy and giving young people the tools they need to compete internationally.
