Pakistan Navy Gets a New Locally Made Gunboat

The Pakistan Navy has successfully launched a new gun boat named PNS Sahiwal, which was fully designed and built in Pakistan. The launch ceremony took place at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW), and was attended by Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami. He praised the efforts of the Navy’s Platform Design Wing and KS&EW for their work in developing advanced ships locally.

PNS Sahiwal has been built as part of the Navy’s strategy to become more self-reliant. The vessel is equipped with long-range semi-automatic guns and can operate effectively in both coastal waters and the open sea. It is designed to enhance the Navy’s ability to protect Pakistan’s maritime borders and respond to threats in the region.

The Pakistan Navy also announced plans to produce more of these types of vessels in the future. This move is aimed at strengthening the country’s local shipbuilding industry and improving its maritime defense capabilities.
