Pakistan Navy successfully conducted a live weapon firing exercise of the FM-90 (N) ER surface-to-air missile in the North Arabian Sea, according to a statement issued by ISPR.
The exercise was carried out to test and confirm the Navy’s combat readiness and its ability to deal with aerial threats in a real-time environment.
During the exercise, a Pakistan Navy warship detected, tracked, and successfully engaged fast-moving aerial targets. The missile accurately hit and neutralised the targets, proving the effectiveness of the weapon system and the crew operating it.
ISPR stated that the successful firing clearly demonstrated the Navy’s modern combat capabilities and its strong preparedness to counter aerial threats at sea.
The exercise was closely observed by Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib. He monitored the operations and reviewed the performance of officers and sailors involved in the drill. After the exercise, he praised the crew for their high level of professionalism, technical skill, and teamwork.
Rear Admiral Abdul Munib reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s firm commitment to protecting the country’s maritime borders and safeguarding national interests.
He highlighted that such exercises play a vital role in maintaining operational readiness and ensuring that naval forces remain prepared to respond effectively to any emerging security challenges.
ISPR added that regular training and live firing exercises are an essential part of the Pakistan Navy’s strategy to keep its forces battle-ready.
These drills help improve coordination, enhance technical expertise, and strengthen the overall defence posture of the country’s maritime forces. The successful firing of the FM-90 (N) ER missile reflects Pakistan Navy’s continued focus on modernisation and readiness in a rapidly changing security environment.
