Pakistan Observes 9th Muharram with Solemnity & Sanctity

Today (Friday), in Pakistan, the 9th of Muharram is being observed with respect and solemnity to honor the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A), who was the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and his companions in the Battle of Karbala. They lost their lives in the conflict in Iraq in the year 61 AH (680 AD) when Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) refused to pledge allegiance to Yazid’s rule.

Across the country, there will be Taziya, Alam, and Zuljanah processions in major cities and towns to remember the martyrs of Karbala. During these processions, people express grief and mourn through Nohas and marsiayas. Security has been increased to ensure the safety of the mourners. Law enforcement personnel like police, Rangers, and scouts have been deployed along the procession routes.

In some areas, mobile phone services have been temporarily suspended, including Karachi, Islamabad, and 14 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to maintain security. There are also special traffic plans in place to create a peaceful atmosphere during the observance of the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
