Murad Saeed, Federal Minister of Communications and Postal Services, said Pakistan Post had set up more than 1,000 Digital Franchise Post Offices (DFPOs) spread in more than 130 cities and towns across the country.
Speaking at a ceremony at the Postal Workers College in Islamabad on Monday, he said that the DFPOs are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and have a robust digital platform to streamline bookings, track articles in real time and delivery.
He added that 10,000 more applications for the acquisition of digital franchises have been submitted.
The Federal Minister said that this initiative would open up new markets and much broader access through massive outreach to small-scale enterprises, the cottage industry and Pakistani artisans, maximizing their market potential.
He said that in the country, domestic and foreign remittances are on the rise.
Murad reported that Pakistan Post was facing losses of Rs60 billion when the PTI came into power. “But now, under the current government, Pakistan Post’s revenues have increased significantly,” he added.
