Pakistan Railways is taking significant steps towards using solar energy to power its major stations and offices. This move is part of a comprehensive solar strategy to transition the department’s entire power network to cleaner, more sustainable energy sources.
The goal of this initiative is to save the department billions of rupees. In fact, it’s expected to result in an initial saving of Rs. 1.8 billion. By shifting to solar power, Pakistan Railways aims to reduce its dependency on traditional energy sources, which can be costly and less environmentally friendly.
To make this transition successful, Pakistan Railways plans to collaborate with the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK). This partnership will provide the necessary expertise and support to efficiently convert the department’s facilities to solar energy.
By implementing this solar strategy, Pakistan Railways hopes to ease its financial burden during challenging economic times. Not only will the department save money, but it will also contribute to a cleaner, greener future by reducing its carbon footprint.
This shift towards solar power aligns with the global trend of adopting renewable energy sources and demonstrates Pakistan Railways’ commitment to sustainability and fiscal responsibility.
