Pakistan Railways and the National Police Foundation have signed a Government-to-Government (G2G) agreement in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of a cashless economy. The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Railways, Islamabad, marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of public sector collections.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Syed Ali Raza, Director I.T – Pakistan Railways, and Mr. Syed Ali Mohsin, DIG – National Police Foundation, in the presence of Mr. Hanif Abbasi, Federal Minister for Railways, Mr. Bashir Khan, Chief Commercial Officer – 1LINK and Mr. Shahnawaz Mahmood, CEO – Finnect.
Under this arrangement, payments will be accepted through various modes including ATMs, mobile and internet banking, bank branches, branchless banking agents, NADRA e-Sahulat centers, and via cash, bank accounts, wallets, cheques, debit cards, and QR codes. The system will channel funds directly into the government exchequer multiple times a day, enhancing transparency, efficiency, and convenience for citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hanif Abbasi Federal Minister for Railways emphasized the importance of this milestone in advancing digital governance and service delivery. He noted that the initiative reflects Prime Minister Mr. Shahbaz Sharif ongoing commitment to a cashless, transparent, and accessible Pakistan. Mr. Abbasi, also expressed appreciation for the collaboration, stating, “We would like to thank NPF, State Bank, 1LINK and Finnect for their valuable support in this digitization journey. We are committed to ensuring its continued success in serving our fellow Pakistanis better.”
Mr. Syed Ali Mohsin, DIG – National Police Foundation (NPF) stated “We are proud to collaborate with Pakistan Railways on the digitization of railway receipts. Building on our partnership with 1LINK and the State Bank of Pakistan, this initiative supports the Prime Minister’s vision of a cashless economy and reflects our commitment to advancing digital transformation across public sector institutions.”
