Pakistan Railways to Expand its Train Network to 96 Trains Till Dec 25

Pakistan Railways is set to expand its express train network to 96 trains by December 25, covering the entire country to better serve commuters. Last year, the network had 86 trains, and the department aims to enhance this figure through concentrated efforts.

Passenger facilities at railway stations include waiting rooms, vending stalls, station restaurants, wheelchairs, information desks, computer reservation facilities, a public address system, paramedics and first aid, online reservation, passenger insurance, and help desks in trains.

The punctuality ratio of trains has significantly improved from 76 to 93 percent in the last three months due to close monitoring and stern measures by Pakistan Railways. This has resulted in a notable increase in the number of passengers by over 20 million, reflecting the department’s achievements.

Additionally, Pakistan Railways plans to introduce the ‘Train Driver Assistant System’ (TDAS) to provide train drivers with a clear view of railway tracks up to 700 meters during adverse weather conditions such as dense smog and fog. The TDAS aims to enhance safety, punctuality, and efficiency in train operations.
