Pakistan Railways to Solarize Stations, Office, Workshops and Factories

Pakistan Railways is starting a gradual shift to solar power for all its stations, offices, workshops, and factories. This transition aims to save a significant amount of money, with the first phase alone expected to cut costs by Rs. 1.8 billion.

In the initial phase, 99 formations, including major train stations and divisional headquarters, will switch to solar power. This project is being managed with the help of NESPAK, a well-known engineering consulting firm.

The main goals are to reduce the financial pressure on Pakistan Railways and to promote sustainable energy practices.

By adopting solar power, Pakistan Railways hopes to tackle the economic challenges it faces, such as rising energy costs and budget constraints. The shift to solar energy is a strategic move designed not only to cut costs but also to make operations more environmentally friendly.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve the financial health and sustainability of Pakistan Railways, ensuring it can continue to serve the public efficiently and responsibly.
