Pakistan Records Highest Inflation in Almost 50 Years

Recently, data revealed according to Consumer Price Index (CPI) based inflation hit 27.3% ijln the month of August 2022 on a year-on-year (YoY) while in the last year 8.4% was recorded, and 24.9% was recorded in the previous month.

As per month-on-month basis, CPI based inflation raised by 2.4% in the month of August 2022 as compared to 4.3% in the previous month while 0.6% in August 2021, stated by PBS (Pakistan Bureau of Statistics).

According to the brokerage house Arif Habib Limited (AHL), “CPI for the month of August 2022 clocked-in at 27.26% YoY (+2.45% MoM)”.

However, AHL stated that since May 1975, and took 2MFY23 average inflation raised to 26.1% as compared to 8.36% in 2MFY22.
