According to figures compiled by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, cement companies in Pakistan recorded their highest sales since 1990 in the fiscal year 2020-21.
The industry also experienced its greatest growth rate of 20% since the fiscal year 2007-2008, when it was at 25%. However, cement makers sold nearly twice as much last fiscal year, at 57 million tonnes, compared to 30 million tonnes in 2007-8.
Senior Research Analyst Ali Zaidi stated, “The FBR’s amnesty policy played a key impact in the strong sales.” “It aided the government in bringing illicit funds into the tax net.”
