Pakistan Starts Online Booking System for Issuance of Passports

Pakistan has initiated a significant leap in passport issuance by introducing a hassle-free process that allows citizens to obtain basic travel documents without the need to physically visit a passport office. The Directorate General of Passport and Immigration, Mustafa Jamal, has introduced an online appointment scheduling system for individuals applying for new e-passports.

This innovative system provides convenience to applicants, enabling them to request appointments with a simple click of a button. Once scheduled, applicants will receive appointment notifications via SMS services, streamlining the process and reducing the need for in-person visits.

The fee structure for different passport categories is as follows:

36-page with 5-year validity:

  • Normal delivery: Rs. 9,000
  • Urgent delivery: Rs. 12,000

72-page with 5-year validity:

  • Normal delivery: Rs. 16,500
  • Urgent delivery: Rs. 27,000

36-page with 10-year validity:

  • Normal delivery: Rs. 13,500
  • Urgent delivery: Rs. 22,500

72-page with 10-year validity:

  • Normal delivery: Rs. 24,750
  • Urgent delivery: Rs. 40,500

Machine-readable passport (36 pages) with 5 years of validity:

  • Normal delivery: Rs. 3,000
  • Urgent delivery: Rs. 5,000

This development is part of a broader effort to digitize and modernize the passport issuance process nationwide. The introduction of e-passports not only enhances efficiency but also aligns with global trends in digital documentation.
