Pakistan to Launch 5G Services Before Eid as PTA Completes Licensing Process

Pakistan is preparing to roll out 5G services ahead of Eid ul Fitr, as the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority enters the final phase of completing the licensing process. This move represents a major step toward advancing the country’s digital infrastructure and aligning with global technological progress.

Telecom operators that successfully acquired spectrum are expected to be awarded their licences at an official ceremony in Islamabad. The event is likely to be attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with other senior government officials and key stakeholders from the telecom industry, underlining the significance of the occasion.

All participating companies have already met the required financial and technical conditions set by regulators. These include submitting bank guarantees, ensuring regulatory compliance, and upgrading network infrastructure to support next-generation connectivity.

The initial rollout of 5G services will begin in major cities, including Islamabad, where demand for faster and more reliable internet is steadily increasing. Authorities plan to expand the service gradually in phases, ensuring smooth deployment across other regions of the country.

The launch of 5G is expected to deliver faster internet speeds, lower latency, and support for advanced technologies such as smart city systems and digital services. It is also seen as a key driver in strengthening Pakistan’s digital economy, fostering innovation, and improving overall connectivity for individuals and businesses.
