Pakistan is advancing its defense capabilities by developing the Shaheen-III, an intermediate-range ballistic missile designed as a successor to the earlier Shaheen-I and Shaheen-II models. With a range of 2,750 kilometers, it is the longest-range missile in the Shaheen series and Pakistan’s arsenal.
The Shaheen-III is a surface-to-surface missile capable of carrying conventional and nuclear warheads. It employs a two-stage, solid-fueled design that enhances speed and readiness. The missile’s mobility, enabled by its transporter erector launcher (TEL), allows it to be easily maneuvered and concealed, providing strategic advantages over fixed launch systems.
The missile underwent its first tests in March and December 2015 and was publicly showcased during Pakistan’s military parade in March 2016, signaling its significance in the country’s defense strategy.
