President Alvi talked about the long fight for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), saying they could bring fast and clear election results.
He said EVMs would let people count paper votes by hand and also electronically, so the total votes for each candidate would be ready in just five minutes after voting ends.
The President felt sad that the plan to use EVMs didn’t work out, even after having more than 50 meetings about it at the Presidency. He believed that using electronic voting could have helped Pakistan avoid the current problem of waiting a long time for election results and not being sure about them.
