At the same time, starter Imamul Haq overtook one of the top batters, Virat Kohli, to become the second-best player on the ODI player list.
MRF Tires ICC men’s ODI player rankings were updated following the Pakistan v West Indies series, the third match between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan and the first between Sri Lanka and Australia, ICC said in a statement.
Haq advanced to second place behind captain Babar Azam after a series player scored 65, 72 and 62. This is the first time batsmen from Pakistan occupy the top two positions in the ODI rankings.
Meanwhile, pacemaker Shaheen Shah Afridi also retained a fourth place on the ICC’s complete ODI bowlers list, while Indian Jasprit Bumrah sits fifth and Afghan Mujeebur Rehman sixth.
Pakistan jumps one spot ahead of India after a facelift from West Indies. The whitewashing of the West Indies in the recently concluded home series at Multan helped Pakistan to fourth place ahead of India in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI team rankings.
The latest win gave Pakistan 106 points. Nevertheless, India is just one point behind in fifth place with 105 points. In the ICC-ODI points table, New Zealand ranks first with 125 points, and Australia ranks second with 107 points.
