A Pakistani artist residing in Denmark has created a one-of-a-kind tribute to the iconic comic Umer Sharif, who died in Germany last week after a protracted illness, by creating his likeness with salt and a spray gun instead of the typical paint and brush on canvas method.
In less than an hour, artist Amir Hussain crafted the one-of-a-kind work of art. “I’ve witnessed Umer Sharif bring smiles to people’s faces since I was a child,” the artist told The Express Tribune, describing Sharif as a Pakistani legend.
Hussain expressed tremendous sadness over Sharif’s death, saying that his performances were unparalleled and that he caused millions to laugh.
As an artist, Hussain believes there is no better way to demonstrate his admiration for the comic king than by drawing his one-of-a-kind portrait. He went on to say that he did not have any training in this technique, but rather inherited it from his forefathers.
Despite being transferred abroad on a priority basis by the government in response to a video appeal by Sharif, the comedian died of his illness at the age of 66. He had been having treatment in Germany for heart and kidney illnesses.
