Pakistani Expat in UAE Celebrates Independence Day by Unfurling Green Flag im Arabian Sea

A Pakistani person who lives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) did something really special for Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day. His name is Khawar Iqbal, and he’s been working as a bank manager in Dubai for more than 20 years. He wanted to do something unique to show his love for Pakistan, so he decided to put the Pakistani flag underwater in the Arabian Sea on August 11.

Even though he’s not in Pakistan, he still wanted to celebrate the country’s Independence Day in a cool way. Last year, he put the flag on a flying board, and this year he went underwater to do something different.Khawar Iqbal prepared for more than a month to do this special thing. He had to learn how to breathe underwater and get comfortable with it. He was worried at first, but he practiced in shallow water and deep pools to get ready. He went about 25 feet deep into the water at Dera Islands and raised both the UAE and Pakistani flags together. He did this to show respect to both the UAE, where he grew up, and Pakistan, his homeland.Khawar said he did this to honor Pakistan and remember the people who gave their lives for the country’s freedom. He called it an “underwater prayer” for Pakistan to do well and a way to say thank you to the heroes of the country.
