Pakistan’s passport position has improved in the 2026 Henley Passport Index, moving up five places from last year.
Pakistan now ranks 98th, compared to 103rd previously, and shares this position with Yemen. This improvement reflects a small but positive change in Pakistan’s global travel access.
According to the latest index, Pakistani passport holders can now travel to 31 countries either without a visa or by getting a visa on arrival. These destinations include Barbados, Maldives, Rwanda, and Trinidad and Tobago.
In addition, Pakistani travelers can use electronic travel authorizations for countries such as Kenya, Seychelles, and Sri Lanka. While the number of accessible countries remains limited, the ranking improvement shows gradual progress.
Pakistan’s passport now ranks higher than several other countries facing travel restrictions. It is placed above Iraq, which ranks 99th, Syria at 100th, and Afghanistan at 101st. This comparison highlights Pakistan’s slightly stronger position within the region in terms of global mobility.
At the top of the index, Singapore holds the number one position. Singaporean passport holders enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 192 countries, making it the strongest passport in the world. Other highly ranked passports also belong to countries with strong diplomatic relations and stable international standing.
The Henley Passport Index ranks passports based on how many destinations their holders can access without needing a visa in advance. Although Pakistan’s passport is still among the lower-ranked globally, the rise in position is seen as an encouraging sign.
Experts believe that continued diplomatic engagement, improved global relations, and economic stability could further improve Pakistan’s passport strength in the future.
For now, the latest ranking offers a modest boost and a sign of gradual improvement in international travel access for Pakistani citizens.
