Pakistani Researchers Win “Outstanding Team Impact Prize” by UK’s Medical Research Council

Two Pakistani researchers have won the “Outstanding Team Impact Prize” from the United Kingdom Medical Research Council (MRC), as reported by state-run media this week. This award recognizes their collaborative approach to medical research.

According to the UK Research and Innovation website, the Outstanding Team Impact Prize celebrates a team that has made a significant impact on medical research through teamwork and collaboration. It honors teams that bring together researchers and specialists from different scientific fields to tackle complex and urgent health and research challenges.

The Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported that a team of researchers from the University of Karachi has received this prestigious prize. The team includes Prof Dr. M Iqbal Chaudhry from the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry and Prof Dr. Sammer Yousaf from the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research.

They were recognized for their research project titled “A Global Network of Tropical Neglected Diseases.” This project integrated expertise from various scientific backgrounds to address the challenges posed by tropical neglected diseases. The collaborative efforts of these researchers have significantly advanced medical research in this area.

Their recognition highlights the importance of teamwork and the integration of diverse scientific skills in addressing some of the most pressing health issues.
