Pakistani Students Can Now Study at the University of Tokyo With Full Funding

Japan has opened new opportunities for Pakistani students through a fully funded scholarship program at the University of Tokyo, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The ADB–Japan Scholarship Program 2026 aims to bring together talented young professionals from developing countries, allowing them to pursue master’s degrees at one of the world’s most prestigious universities.

The initiative is part of Japan’s effort to strengthen academic and developmental ties with ADB member nations. It provides Pakistani students a chance to gain global exposure, engage in advanced research, and contribute to national development after graduation. Selected candidates will receive full financial support, including tuition fees, living expenses, travel costs, medical insurance, and a research grant.

Who Can Apply

This program is designed for professionals who already have practical experience rather than fresh graduates. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, be under 35 years of age, and have at least two years of relevant work experience. A key condition is that scholars must return to their home country for at least two years after completing their studies, ensuring that their expertise benefits local communities.

How to Apply

Interested candidates need to identify a potential supervisor within the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences at the University of Tokyo, which offers programs in sustainability, environmental studies, and international development. Applications and required documents must be submitted online by December 10, 2025 while recommendation letters must be sent directly by referees.

Selection Process and Timeline

The screening process will take place in early 2026 with final results expected in May. Successful candidates will begin their academic journey in October 2026. Experts say this scholarship offers more than financial support it serves as a bridge connecting bright minds across Asia and empowering them to build sustainable futures.
