Pakistani students to benefit as China to launch K visa, Here’re Details

China is preparing to introduce a brand-new visa category known as the K visa, designed especially for young science and technology graduates worldwide, including Pakistan. The scheme will officially begin on October 1, 2025, after being approved by China’s State Council and signed into effect by Premier Li Qiang.

For Pakistani graduates, this initiative brings major opportunities. Students finishing degrees in engineering, IT and applied sciences will no longer be limited to academic study alone.

The K visa will allow them to stay in China after graduation, participate in global research, and even start their own businesses without needing a job offer.

One of the biggest advantages of the new category is flexibility. Holders of the K visa will enjoy multiple entries, longer stays and an easier application process.

Unlike other visas, it will not require an invitation from a Chinese company or institution. Age, prior work experience, or advanced degrees will also not be barriers, making it ideal for fresh graduates eager to begin their careers.

Officials in Beijing say this step is part of the “Talent Power Strategy,” a national plan that sees science as a key economic force and innovation as the driver of progress.

By attracting young minds, China hopes to fuel its innovation hubs in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hangzhou, while also supporting smaller technology clusters.

Education experts in Pakistan believe this policy could strengthen research ties and encourage cross-border start-ups, joint projects, and global networking. Detailed guidelines on eligibility and applications are expected to be released by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs ahead of the October launch.
