Pakistan has once again achieved a remarkable feat by having the highest number of students selected for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship worldwide. A total of 192 talented individuals from Pakistan were chosen to study in European universities, surpassing other countries.
The EU Pakistan announced this accomplishment on their official Twitter account, highlighting that India closely followed with 174 students, Bangladesh with 140, Mexico with 118, and Nigeria with 109.
The European Union has provided scholarships to a total of 2,835 students from 143 countries for the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programs. Last year, Pakistan also secured the top position with 3,013 students from 133 countries being selected for these programs.
Furthermore, the United States recently announced the offer of 500 new scholarships for university students from flood-affected areas in Pakistan. These scholarships aim to support the affected students in completing their degrees, as they recover from the devastating impact of the historic monsoon rains and flooding that occurred in the country in 2022.
The announcement was made by the US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, during an event at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Islamabad, held in honor of International Women’s Day.
