Pakistani students made history at the Oxford Union on November 27, 2025. They beat an Indian team in a debate on whether India’s policy toward Pakistan is more about winning votes than real security. The topic was: “This House Believes India’s Policy Towards Pakistan is a Populist Strategy Sold as Security Policy.”
The Pakistani team included Moosa Harraj, Israr Khan Kakar, and Ahmed Nawaz Khan. They used strong facts, laws, and numbers to argue their point as they talked about India’s water policies and support for groups in Balochistan as ways to stir up trouble for votes.
The Indian team had J. Sai Deepak, Pandit Satish Sharma, and Deorchan Banerjee. But top Indian figures like General M.M. Naravane and Dr. Subramanian Swamy, who pulled out at the last minute, showed weakness in their arguments.
At first, both sides had big names planned, like Pakistan’s Hina Rabbani Khar and General Zubair Mahmood Hayat. But when India backed out, students stepped in and won big. The vote was 160 for Pakistan and 51 for India, a two-thirds win.
This victory shows Pakistan’s young people can stand strong on the world stage. They proved their country’s story with clear thinking, even when outnumbered.
