Under the Automotive Development Policy (ADP) 2016-21, the Pakistan government issued greenfield status to 21 automakers to manufacture commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles.
According to MoIP (Ministry of Industries & Production), new automakers from Europe, Malaysia, Korea, and China have joined the auto industry, generating a total investment of over $1.0 billion.
Furthermore, MoIP also stated that the following seven automakers had received manufacturing certificates in the auto industry:
- United Motor Limited,
- Master Changan Motors Limited,
- Regal Automobile Industries Limited,
- Hyundai Nishat Motors Limited,
- Lucky Motor Corporation Limited,
- Al-Haj Automotive,
- Sazgar Engineering Works Limited.
The manufacturing facilities of other industries such as MG JW SEZ are now in progress. The total production capacity of Pakistan’s automotive industry has risen from 275,000 units to 418,500, up 52.2% units a year. It is predicted to increase even more as some new car manufacturers are also inbound.
