On Friday, Pakistan registered more than 7,000 new COVID-19 infections for the first time as it confronts a catastrophic fifth wave powered by the Omicron variety.
According to the most recent National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) figures, at least 7,678 additional cases were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall number of reported illnesses across the country to 1,353,479.
During the fifth wave of the new coronavirus, at least 23 people died, and the national Covid positive rate increased to 12.93 percent. The overall death toll has now risen to 29,065, continuing a worrying trend.
In the last 24 hours, Pakistan conducted 59,343 cases. There were 961 patients in critical care. Approximately 814 people have recovered from the infection.
