Pakistan has made history with the successful summit of its first-ever all-women mountaineering team, who climbed the 5,400-meter-high Bari La peak in Gilgit-Baltistan. This achievement marks a powerful milestone in the country’s mountaineering journey and a breakthrough moment for women in adventure sports.

The 10-member team was unique, as it represented every corner of Pakistan, including all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.

Each climber underwent training at the Sadpara Mountaineering School, where they prepared for the difficult conditions and challenges of the climb. Their hard work and determination paid off when they proudly reached the summit on September 10.

This historic success has been widely celebrated across the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz praised the climbers, calling them an inspiration for young women in Pakistan. Their encouragement highlights how this achievement not only celebrates mountaineering but also represents women’s empowerment and resilience.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan also applauded the summit, describing it as the beginning of a new chapter for women in the nation’s mountains.

They emphasized that the accomplishment will inspire future generations of female adventurers to explore the world of climbing and high-altitude trekking.

By breaking barriers and reaching new heights, this team has shown that women in Pakistan are ready to take on the toughest challenges. Their success at Bari La stands as a symbol of courage, teamwork, and the limitless potential of Pakistani women when given the right opportunities and support.
