Pakistan’s Largest Model Cattle Market Opens in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially opened Pakistan’s largest model cattle market in Shahpur Kanjran, Lahore. This project marks a major step forward for the livestock sector in the province and aims to improve how animals are bought, sold, and cared for. Built over an area of 74 acres, the market can accommodate up to 25,000 large animals and 150,000 small animals. To ensure the well-being of the animals, the market includes shaded shelters, fans for cooling, a special quarantine zone to prevent the spread of disease, and full-time veterinary services.

In addition to these animal care features, the market also provides important facilities for people working and visiting there. It has a mosque for prayer, rooms for traders to conduct their business, a slaughterhouse, an auction area, and even an on-site bank for easy transactions. Safety and convenience have also been considered, with a police post to maintain order and large parking areas for visitors. During her visit, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz personally inspected the site, praised the efforts of those who made the project possible, and highlighted the government’s commitment to improving services for both people and animals. She also announced that another model cattle market is being planned in the city of Jhang to expand this initiative further.
